THE DESIGN 

The artwork depict the Holy Family - the Infant Jesus, cradled in the arms of His Blessed Mother Mary with St. Jospeh, His Foster-Father looking on in adoration. Increased devotion to the Holy Family began in the 17th century, leading to a feast day added to the General Roman Calendar in 1921, to celebrate them as a role model for families.
