The devotion to Our Lady of La Leche began in Spain and was brought to the New World in the 16th century, with the first shrine built in St. Augustine, Florida. The image depicts Mary tenderly nursing the Infant Jesus, reminding us of the humanity of Christ and the loving care of our Blessed Mother. Generations of the faithful have turned to her for help in pregnancy, childbirth, and nursing a child.
THE DESIGN
The watercolor on this card is inspired by the traditional image of Our Lady of La Leche, showing the Blessed Mother seated and nursing the Christ Child.
