Born in 1869, Josephine Bakhita was born to a loving family but was abducted by slave traders as a child. After many years, she finally was given her freedom. St. Josephine chose to stay with Catholic sisters in Venice. She was confirmed and received her First Holy Communion. Three years later, she entered the novitiate and took her vows in 1896. She was known for her gentle demeanour and charisma. St. Josephine Bakhita, pray for us!
